A charitable organisation based in Dartford are looking for a Governance Manager to cover a 10-12 month period for maternity cover.

They are looking for someone with strong Governance Management experience in which the role of the Governance Manager will be to:

* To monitor governance and regulatory compliance, identifying and reporting on areas of concern to the Director of Governance & Compliance and ultimately to the Executive Team.

* To keep abreast of the external environment and drive continuous improvement.

* To coordinate all regulatory enquiries and requirements.

* To submit all corporate returns and statutory filings on behalf of the organisation and its subsidiaries.

* To act as a central point of contact for, and manage all operational matters relating to, Data Protection, Whistleblowing, Bribery Act, Anti-fraud, Section 20 and Consumer Credit Licence.

* Taking a proactive approach to promoting compliance across the organisation.

* To manage the Board and Committee calendars and work plans, providing an effective support service including overseeing all associated secretariat and administration.

* To advise and guide on methods that contribute to co-regulation activities.

* To promote the Board and Committees via the business website.

* To support the wider business in all mergers and acquisitions from initial information gathering through to ensuring probity is maintained; also ensuring best practice from both organisations is adopted.

* To manage the Declarations of Interest exercise and oversee the maintenance of Board and Committee records and statutory registers.

* To deputise for the Director of Governance & Compliance for guidance of the Board in the execution of its tasks. Including updating company rules, standing orders, terms of reference and codes of governance and, in particular, act as the Data Protection Officer and Company Secretary in their absence.

Experience:

* Housing experience would be ideal but not essential

* Working towards ICSA qualification

* Strong exposure of supporting a board in a public sector setting

* Data Protection / Data Governance experience
