Team Leader - Youth Programmes

GBP28,000 per annum

We are working with a leading charity in the Southeast who support people to enhance their skills and build confidence, helping them into training, education, or employment, supporting over 50,000 people each year.

As they continue to grow across the Southeast, they are recruiting for a Team Leader to run a range of their youth programmes across Kent. This includes the likes of a peer mentoring project and a Kickstart programme. As a Team Leader, you will need experience in managing staff and projects and have a good understanding of young people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Key duties:

  • Co-ordinate the delivery of a range of projects for young people, ensuring all are achieving and delivering as required.
  • Line manage staff, carry out regular line management supervision meetings and appraisals, supporting staff in their role and performance manage to a high standard.
  • Ensure all projects are well promoted and accessed by referrers and young people.
  • Work closely with potential and existing employers, managing their sign up and ongoing queries.
  • Directly managing staff to ensure the projects are delivered to a high standard meeting the required KPI's and outcomes.
  • Lead on Safeguarding and Prevent for the team, responding and reporting to all incidents appropriately.
  • Manage a delegated budget, allocate funds and monitor expenditure in compliance with financial guidelines.

  • Understand all factors that can impact young peoples lives, and experience of supporting them through these obstacles.
  • Take an active role in evaluating performance of self and others, working on personal development.
  • Build effective and professional work relationships with young people and clients.
  • Work constructively as part of a team and independently.
  • Be flexible, where evening and weekend work is required.

You should have???

  • A qualification (minimum Level 4) in youth/community work, social work, mental health, education or equivalent, as well as a Maths and English GCSE C or above, or equivalent.
  • A Management qualification.
  • Experience in working with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of local support organisations.
  • Above basic IT and administrative skills.
  • An approachable and emotionally intelligent manner.
  • The ability to naturally motivate people.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A full UK drivers' licence.
