Are you an experienced Civil Engineer?

Do you have an interest and experience in drainage design and flood risk engineering?

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to be part of their growing team. The successful candidate will lead technical work for civil/drainage engineering projects, along with fluvial and highways schemes. The role will involve leading and / or supporting civil engineering design and delivery of a variety of projects and will include guiding and mentoring more junior civil engineers. You will also undertake site work and input to bid and tender preparation.

Current projects include a range of drainage design schemes for major developments in England and Wales, flood storage proposals and fluvial engineering projects for the environment agency under the NGSA frameworks, along with drainage strategies for smaller developments and optioneering for SuDS and flood defence projects.

Location:

The post can be based in our clients Haywards Heath or Coleshill office, although flexible and agile working is available where this provides mutual benefit.

Qualifications and experience

Key competencies required for the role:

Previous professional experience within a consultancy environment is essential. Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate and evidence, a proven track record in the following:

Leading and QA of engineering design
Leading and mentoring junior engineers
Project Management.Excellent report writing and effective communication skills are essential to this role. Candidates should have a sound appreciation for engineering principles and good analytical skills for problem solving. Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are also considered key attributes.

Who we are looking for:

Applicants should have a relevant civil or environmental engineering degree qualification (or equivalent) and proven previous commercial experience. Chartered status is important to our client and valued by their clients therefore applicants should be a chartered member of the ICE or a related equivalent. Our client will consider candidates who are not yet chartered but have a desire to work towards becoming chartered and they will support you through their professional mentoring programming.

Expertise with respect to the following core skills is expected:

Civil engineering design
Drainage and SuDS design
Use of Microdrainage software
Management of sewer adoptions and ordinary watercourse consents
Use of Specification for Highway Works
Production of feasibility studies and detailed design information for tender and construction
Application of CDM Regulations in a design environment
Scope, organise and supervise design work
Mentoring of junior staffExperience in design of flood mitigation projects, pavements and drainage strategies would be beneficial.

Expertise using the following software would be beneficial but is not essential:

AutoCAD Civil 3D
