ESD is a joint venture that will deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve Scottish Water's water and wastewater treatment works across the length and breadth of the country.

As a Senior Engineer, you will ensure that the setting out and control of all civil engineering for the project is in line with the construction issue drawings, also will be responsible for your subordinates on site through mentoring and education. All resources, materials and plant to carry out the works need to be coordinated, procured and fully utilised to align with your look ahead programme.

You will report directly to the Civil Lead and the responsibilities will include:

Day to day management of subordinates including the supervision and monitoring of the engineering requirement of the site
Plan, control and monitor the progress of the civil works of the project
Report to Site Agent on progress and performance.
Assist the Site Agent to administer the cost forecast, valuation and reporting systems.
Attending and implementing weekly and monthly site meetings with relevant site personnel
Maintain a current drawing register
Ensure all site team and subcontractors are working to the latest construction issue information.
Undertake or supervise the material take offs where required and ensure materials are ordered and reconciled.
Conduct regular H&S checks and CDM audits.
Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work systems, inductions and briefing are correctly carried out.
Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and problems may arise.
Ensuring and maintaining strict quality control procedures.
Ensuring site team keep site diaries and that they are accurate and are up to date.
Assist with value engineering solutions.
Manage direct reports and ensure appropriate competence is maintained.
Monitor capability of staff and contractors to undertake current and prospective workloads and report to site management.
Understand any temporary works requirements.
Understand the requirements of Service Avoidance and be the permit issuer for all permits to break ground
Identify/assist in introducing new process, techniques and innovations on site.
Qualifications

SMSTS.
Relevant CSCS card.
TWC (Desirable).
Utility Service Avoidance training to EUSR 1and 2 (desirable)
1st Aid (Desirable).
A working knowledge of Civil Engineering
Likely to have previous relevant business experience or transferable skills gained in other areas
Equivalent of Level 3 NVQ or Certificate Level qualification.
Degree in Engineering discipline ( desirable)
Proficient IT skills
Proficient skills in engineering equipment for setting out
Strong knowledge of CDM
Good working knowledge of NEC. (desirable)Benefits
