A leading logistics and freight forwarding organisation, specialising in the movement of freight via sea, air, and road as well as providing Worldwide Supply Chain Logistics solutions for clients of all sizes, is looking to recruit a Freight Operations Manager, to be based at offices in the Heathrow Area.
Working Hours:
8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Main Purpose of the Role:
Overseeing the daily workings of one of the leading freight forwarding departments in the UK.
The manager will oversee a team of 16 people, and will be responsible for the overall management of the operation, customer relations of the department.
Key priorities of the role will be employee engagement, overseeing their performance, and development.
The manager is required to implement processes to insure, to ensure deadlines are met, whilst maintaining a high-quality standard product, production, and delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Managing the day to day running of the Freight Forwarding operations.
* Providing top level customer care to clients.
* Dealing with shipments, deliveries, and working alongside the customs department.
* Negotiating level of cooperation with new or existing suppliers.
* Controlling profitability of the department.
* Motivating and training team members.
* Communicating with clients on daily basis regarding collections, deliveries, and common problems on route.
* Liaising with suppliers and customers.
* Communicating with existing Hauliers on daily basis.
* Optimizing the journeys keeping in mind the balance between profitability and service levels to the clients.
* Confirming orders to hauliers and booking confirmations to clients.
* Maintaining tariff sheet, and customer's quotes in the operating system.
* Producing profitability and other related reports.
* Health & safety in the office and work premises.
To Be Considered:
* Coaching, training, developing others & identifying training needs.
* Extensive experience in the management of large freight forwarding teams.
* Freight forwarding and/or supply chain experience is essential.
* Managed change and continual process improvements.
* Leading project implementation and delivery.
* Flexibility to travel across the network therefore a current driving licence is required, and you may need to be contactable out of hours to deal with urgent situations.
