Position: Tennis Professional (Visiting Coach)

Salary Range: T2 (Level 2) GBP16.15 per hour - T4.5 (Experienced Level 4) GBP29.53 per hour plus holiday pay (see below)

Normal Hours: Basic hours in the region of 20 per week will initially be allocated by the Director of Tennis with capacity for the coach to build up their own timetable with the support of the department.

The Role:

St Mary's Calne Tennis Academy (SMCTA) is seeking to recruit a Licensed Level 3 or 4 Professional Tennis Coach. Applications from Level 2 coaches will be considered if the candidate is currently participating in the Level 3 award. SMCTA's vision to be recognised nationally as an inspirational school tennis programme is on track as we were nominated as a national finalist for the School of the Year category in the 2021 LTA Tennis Awards. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and further their coaching career.

St Mary's has its own pay scale based on coaching level plus benefits (holiday pay, pension, meals during term time), including, for a nominal fee, membership of the St Mary's Sports Centre. This is a new vacancy due to demand for September, with the consistently increasing numbers of pupils taking an interest in Tennis creating a waiting list for lessons. We are therefore now in need of a sixth coach to join the team. Basic hours in the region of 20 per week will therefore initially be allocated by the Director of Tennis with capacity for the new coach to build up their own timetable. The successful candidate would be encouraged and supported to increase the number of lessons conducted. Other essential attributes include being well organised, reliable and presentable.

The Tennis Coach is employed on the terms of a Visiting Teacher. Hours may fluctuate both up and down depending on demand, but the ethos of the School is to encourage extra-curricular activities to help these departments thrive.

St Mary's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. Due to the nature of the work involved, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. All members of staff are expected to have proper regard for the school's safeguarding policy and procedures, including up-to-date training. Extracts from the school's policy are appended as the final page of this document.

Benefits of Working at St Mary's Calne:

  • Term Time meals are provided.
  • Discounted membership of the on-site Sports Centre
  • On-Site Parking
