Apple Recruitment are seeking to recruit a Communications Officer, Band 6, for our public sector client based on the Saintfield road (bt8). The placement will be for 6 months initially, mon-fri 9am-5pm, 37.5 hours per week and GBP16.04 an hour.

Job summary

The Communications Officer will work as part of the Communications Team to deliver high quality and effective communications and engagement activity in promoting and enhancing the overall operation and reputation of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

The post holder will form part of a small, busy team, which will manage and oversee all aspects of the Trust's communication function. The role includes general communications duties as well as specific responsibilities for the day-to-day co-ordination of the Trust's social media accounts, generation of video content and the continued development of the Trust's website, Intranet and digital activity.

The Communications Officer will support the Communications Team to plan and implement communications campaigns for internal and external audiences, which includes commissioning, writing, sourcing, editing and proofing content and supporting materials.

The Communications Officer will provide, as part of the team, a media handling process to respond to frequent requests from broadcast and print media outlets.

The Communications Officer will ensure, as part of the team, the smooth operation of the Trust's Community Education Programme.

The Communications Officer will be expected at all times to act in accordance with our values, demonstrating commitment to the delivery of high quality services for patients and the community we serve.

Essential Criteria:

* The Communications Officer should be educated to degree level in a Communications/Digital Communications field.

* 'Experience of creating digital content

* Advanced IT skills and proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Adobe suite (particularly Premier Pro, lnDesign and Photoshop)

* Excellent communication and literacy skills - verbal and written

* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of people at all levels

* Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines and priorities, adapting to change when required

* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

* Film/video skills

* Creative photography skills

* Current driving licence with use of transport

Desirable

* Experience of working in a communications/media/PR field

* Experience of the media, NHS and political landscape including media handling and crisis management

* NHS or healthcare experience

* Campaign management

* Event management
