The Infrastructure Team Leader is responsible for managing the Operations team, providing day to day oversight of incident resolution and ensuring pro-active tasks, processes & projects are dealt with by the Operations team. The role acts as an escalation point, provides guidance and also senior decision making when required. The role is responsible for the pro-active maintenance of the business application systems and the associated infrastructure, ensuring systems' health and performance levels are maintained which ensure efficient and reliable use by employees. In addition, provide a wide variety of installation, configuration and upgrading of technologies in line with the IT Strategy. The role will lead the investigation, diagnostic testing and repair/resolution of system, hardware, software and infrastructure problems.

Responsibilities
Act as an escalation point in the resolution of incidents and problems, providing direct hands on assistance and seeking knowledge and support from 3rd parties or the wider team when required.
Provide guidance for Systems Engineers on all aspects of the role.
Working closely with the IT Services Team Leader to develop and maintain a knowledge transfer process which ensures a sufficient and high level of knowledge transfer within and across both teams.
Develop maintenance plans, business continuity plans, testing schedules, system capacity and performance monitoring.
Ensure that all changes that are made are performed and documented to conform to the IT change management policies, procedures and service levels.
Participate in new system design and the implementation of change projects
To ensure that correct data security procedures are in place and adhered to
Ensure that all details of technical changes and specialist knowledge is accurately documented

Experience needed
Advanced core networking skills
Advanced understanding of Microsoft Server & cloud technologies
Advanced understanding of Linux Operating systems
Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN/Telecommunications infrastructure
Advanced understanding of supporting Servers and users within an Active Directory domain
Good understanding of IT security
Server & Application security
Good understanding of Data Centre infrastructure:
SAN technology
VMWare
Physical Server hardware
Proven experience of having good fault finding and troubleshooting skills
Experience managing technical teams
Producing technology architecture documentation, polices and standards
IT/OT infrastructure and database management
