Do you have Application Support skills with ERP software, or a similar software product such as dealer management systems, MRP, accounting software, property management, fleet management or construction solutions, or any other application software that has an element of finance or accounting to it? This is a new (office based) role with a vibrant company based in Southampton on the River Itchen; they will look at candidates with anything over 12 months experience in these application support areas. Salary range from GBP23k to GBP28k.
This software reseller is an ERP specialist with 2 UK offices; they work with SME clients from 10 to 200 users on average, they have around 50 staff, and they have been in business for over 25 years. As a company they look after their clients very well and have a high-level service ethos, so you will be able to do a great job supporting their customer base with ERP software queries.
If you work for a software company supporting a specific application for business customers (SME) that is ideal. So this could be application support of ERP software or accounting solutions, or construction, property management, builders' merchants, or dealer management software, or legal accounting or MRP - as long as you have some experience of the finance / accounting aspects of the software. But you might also be in a software support role at an end user site supporting their in-house software or in a systems administration role working with ERP solutions; the important thing is that you have some understanding of business processes, and knowledge of the accounts or financial aspects of software.
The role:
Answering support telephone calls and emails professionally and personably
Logging incidents clearly and concisely
Assisting clients via remote login
Progressing and resolving clients' problems confidently and effectively
Coping under pressure when busy
Meeting SLA's
Being proactive, friendly, energetic and well organised Their ERP software is pretty, modern and user friendly, and is built on SQL Server, and .Net and is highly configurable with a lot of functionality. So there will be lots of different modules for you to learn about and get your teeth into. Some clients are running it on premise and some as a cloud solution, and some are running it on mobiles and tablets, it is very versatile.
They want someone who enjoys application support on ERP software, but would also like the challenge of helping the consultants on software implementation projects. This is unusual in that the software support team is very strong and there are only a few implementation consultants. So quite often the consultant will ask someone on support, to do part of the project work with them.
The most important skill is to be able to listen to what the client is saying, understand their issues and look for ways to move things forward. Many of the support issues are not really about the software having a fault, but more about the client using the software in the wrong way, so as an application support consultant, asking questions to establish what they are trying to do and avoiding the "it isn't working" conversation, is really helpful. People who are confident on the phone, can ask clients open questions and have a lot of patience, do much better here.
This is a team where you will learn, grow and develop your software skills in a knowledge sharing environment - and they also have fun here! Everyone is professional and committed to giving their clients the best possible support service as quickly and efficiently as possible. The job is office based, so you need to be able to commute to Southampton easily. Get in touch with Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing for more info
