A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Preformed Line Products (GB), est. 1957, an NASDAQ listed, worldwide designer, manufacturer and supplier of high-quality products for the communications, energy, special industries and solar markets. We are currently looking for a Technical Sales Representative to develop, maintain and understand the key staff of PLP clients within the UK transmission and distribution sector, to support existing activities and in addition establish and exploit business development opportunities.
The Technical Sales Representative will manage the 'open' project list and report on updates. Reporting to the Sales Manager, they will work to a planned itinerary and visit clients' sites', from Head Office to the project sites, incorporating one day per week in the PLP GB Andover office.
The Company is looking for someone with a technical background who is naturally comfortable with face-to-face customer meetings and is comfortable spending time out on the road.
The role:
* Manage and execute a visit plan for PLP GB UK clients' locations promoting PLP, identifying new opportunities and providing technical and commercial support.
* Assist UK Sales Manager on support for all sales technical enquiries; develop targets and budgets for products, customers, and territories.
* Assist UK Sales Manager on significant customer driven development, supply, and turnkey projects.
* Helping determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations.
* Preparing and communicating weekly and monthly reports
* Giving sales presentations to a range of prospective clients.
* Identify and report on new business development opportunities such product and acquisition.
* Monitor and report on competitors' activities.
* Present to board level and technical committees.
* Travel in the UK and overseas, potentially outside of core hours.
Skills/ Experience required:
* Preference given to candidates with HNC and business qualification
* Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Extensive sales and customer service experience, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
* Superb interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport
* Successful problem-solving experience
* A strong communicator - written and spoken, dedicated and conscientious
* Detailed orientated with organisational skills
* Project management skills
* Presentation and negotiation skills
* The ability to demonstrate practically at Board and field level
* Understand technical (mechanical) specifications and drawings
