Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Buyer / Planner will be responsible for the creating of and monitoring of compliance to the production plan and the control of material to meet those plans, this is a new role in the organisation and therefore previous experience in a similar role is essential.
Ideally you will come from an SME manufacturing background, with practical knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application. You will be adept at running/using MRP and with strong IT skills in particular Excel.
Essential Job Responsibilities
* Planning, monitoring and reporting on material levels to optimise production
* Manage stock of retail finished goods and consumables
* Tracking WIP / product configuration (BoMs).
* Take ownership of Production forecast ensuring accuracy and efficiency, coordinating discussions to solve issues impacting the production schedule reducing customer impact.
* Manage safety stock and MOQ volumes, ensuring optimum inventory levels.
* Identify areas for cost-saving, targeted inventory reduction or to improve efficiency.
* Ensure PO's are processed completely and accurately and submitted on-time.
* Provide periodic analysis and reports on a variety of areas such as production performance, production capacity and material shortages. ??
* Produce accurate, periodic supplier forecasts to key internal and external suppliers.
* Work with all areas of the business where necessary to enhance working practices.
* Manage other tasks related to the management of materials or production planning.
* Deputise departmental leadership when required.
* Work towards meeting and exceeding departmental targets to support the continued growth of the business
* Raise production orders in line with the production plan.
* Analyse messages from MRP system and place orders in a timely manner.
* Manage suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventories and ensure timely flow of material.
* Monitor and report key performance metrics, including Purchase Price Variance, inventories, shortages, and supplier performance
* Develop a thorough working knowledge of required MRP / ERP systems. SAP
* Provide a short and medium term plan to the business to efficiently and effectively meet customer deadlines.
* Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements.
* Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments
Qualifications & Skills Requirements ??
* Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
* Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application.
* Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills.
* Self-starter with ability to work independently and react quickly to changing priorities.
* Required to have an extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, works independently, displays initiative and solves problems with proficiency.
* Attention to Detail --Completes work in a thorough and complete manner, provides detailed information, and tracks details at all times.
