Editor - News Letter
Location: Belfast
The News Letter is a digital and newspaper brand located in Northern Ireland and is part of the substantial series of JPIMedia titles across the country.
We are now looking for an outstanding editor to further build on our unrivalled reputation for coverage of Northern Ireland's rich culture, its politics and economy at a pivotal time for its constitutional position within the UK.
Are you a first-class leader with a passion for great content and quality journalism? Do you want to lead our highly-skilled and collaborative teams delivering news, business, features and sport coverage online and in print?
You will have a hunger to learn, develop and embrace change in an exciting and fast-paced environment.
Already having a firm understanding of social media, you will have a grasp of SEO and also a natural understanding of what makes great digital content.
Who we are looking for:
* A strategic leader who develops departmental objectives to achieve business targets
* Someone accountable for the production and final legal and ethical responsibility for all relevant titles across all multimedia platforms
* A leader who is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the title and setting the editorial tone
* A journalist who can initiate and support campaigns and special investigations
* A networker who can build and maintain key relationships with business, political and civic leaders
* Someone who can work effectively with analytics data and employ it appropriately across all platforms
* The ability to deal with relevant regulatory issues or complaints
* Someone with a sharp entrepreneurial mind who can maximise commercial opportunities working collaboratively with advertising colleagues
* A strong advocate of social media
Skills/experience
* A team player: able to lead teams to effectively produce high quality print products and develop digital strategies using data, analytics, video and social media
* Significant experience of editing a daily newspaper or similar platform in digital and print
* An understanding of how tone impacts brand values
* Experience of developing website content management systems and content plans
* Understanding of SEO principles and best practice
* Full knowledge of media law and the Editors' Code of Practice
* First class communication skills
