Optical Fiber Fabrication Technician

Pertemps Southampton are working with a well established Fiber Optic company based on the outskirts of Southampton and are looking for a Optical Fiber Fabrication Technician.

Rolling 2 weekly shift pattern
(Apply online only) Monday & (Apply online only) Tuesday to Thursday Week 1
(Apply online only) Monday - Wednesday Week 2

Salary GBP27,500 per annum (included in this is the 20% shift premium) Salary can be looked at for those with experience.
28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)

Some of the key duties of the Optical Fiber Fabrication Technician include:-
" Operating preform fabrication lathes;
" Following detailed product specification instructions and handling chemicals under controlled conditions;
" Completing and maintaining logs, spreadsheets and databases as indicated in work instructions;

To be successful in this role, the Optical Fiber Fabrication Technician will have:
" 5 GCSE's (or equivalent ) Grade C and above to include Maths and Science
" Understand written and verbal instructions in English
" Computer Literate, familiar in Microsoft office applications
" Good dexterity & no issue working unsupervised.

Experience of working within a process, technical or manufacturing environment
This role would ideally suit someone perhaps with an interest in machinery who enjoys being hands on whilst having good attention to detail. Due to the nature of the work accessing equipment via steps, a reasonable level of fitness is essential.
