Are you an experienced Marketing Assistant or a recent graduate with experience in social media and communications?

Do you have an interest in clean energy and a background in science?

Here at UKAEA we are seeking a Social Media Officer who will enact the recommendations of UKAEA's social media strategy; be responsible for day to day content; undertake longer term campaigns / activities and evaluate the impact of the organisation's social media activity.

In your role you'll:
** Enact the main elements of UKAEA's social media strategy, with the aim of continually expanding reach across a range of platforms and assist in updating and improving the strategy.
* Take the lead for all UKAEA social media content. Hold a weekly meeting with the Communications Group to suggest and discuss suitable content, implementing the agreed content across the various social media platforms. This will require a broad knowledge of UKAEA's activities and news and the responsibility and good judgement to act as the organisation's voice on social media.
* Plan and undertake effective social media campaigns and activities to achieve UKAEA's communications goals, working with colleagues across the organisation.
* Monitor the performance of UKAEA's social media accounts, using analytics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate effectiveness and identify improvements. Report on the impact of our social media activity annually to the Executive Committee.
* Be responsible for interacting with the public on social media, including replying to comments and enquiries.
* Keep track of best practice and new ideas in social media and recommend their implementation at UKAEA.
* Cover live UKAEA events for the organisation's social media platforms

You may be required to cover events outside the normal working week.

Ideally your background will include:

Good organisational skills.
Excellent knowledge of the main social media applications and of best practice in social media, particularly Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram
Track record in planning and evaluating effective social media campaigns.
Experience in writing social media content and in answering enquiries from the public.
A Scientific qualification or an interest in science
Some experience in science communication, or a relevant post graduate science communication qualification.
