The Role
British Gypsum, part of the Saint-Gobain group, is the UK's leading manufacturer of interior lining systems. In every kind of building - from home to work, from the local supermarket to the local hospital - we help to create partitions, provide comfort, protect against fire and insulate against sound.
We're looking for a Mine Operative to be an integral member of the Mine Production team & operate front line production machinery. You will undertake duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy and Managers Rules
What you'll be doing as a Mine Operative:
Be fully committed to high safety standards
Be capable of following instructions
Have the ability to identify problems & effectively resolve problems in safe manner
Follow directions to ensure extraction width and height is in accordance with Mine Design.
Be flexible to work around the changing Mine requirements & demands
Be able to work on own initiative
Actively support Mine/site energy consumption to ensure it is minimised through optimised running of equipment
Use basic SPC tools to monitor quality performance & make corrective actions as required.
Apply low level WCM tools (Quick Kaizen, EWO's OPL's, GPL's, success sheets & tags) to identify Root Causes of problems effect performance improvements
Assist in the promotion of positive and inclusive people culture
Be responsive to training needs for your role as required
Assist in ensuring production materials are used & stored correctly to minimise waste & maximising efficient usage

Participates willingly in working groups - behaves as a "good team member showing solidarity".
Takes into consideration each individual contribution and values it.
GCSE/CSE English & Maths
Basic computer skills
Experience in underground mining environment or operator/driver of heavy plant
Experience of mechanised mining Operations
