The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Electrical Shift Technician, providing operational and technical support on electrical generation and distribution activities. These include our High Pressure Boiler House, Power Recovery Train and High Voltage (HV) Assets, as well as operating the site electrical distribution system via the SCADA control system. The role will also maintain an overview of electrical integrity and comply with preventative maintenance requirements.
You will assist the unit in meeting the statutory requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations, Essar Oil UK Permit to Work systems and its electrical rules and regulations. You will perform maintenance inspections and ensure that these are progressed and carried out as required. You will isolate/de isolate and test HV equipment up to and including 33kV and you will also be required to provide ‘out of hours’ first line response to operational and electrical issues, with the responsibility to escalate appropriately.
About You
Our ideal candidate should have a recognised engineering apprenticeship with ONC/HNC or other comparable level of competence, with experience post-apprenticeship in power and control or a core electrical discipline. You must possess a high level of safety awareness and good knowledge of power generation equipment, safety procedures and systems, as well as the ability to demonstrate evidence of identifying issues, taking the initiative and driving opportunities to a successful conclusion. You will be working within multi-discipline teams, as well as within your own team. You will have extensive experience of electrical equipment and either have or be working towards the equivalent recognised competence of a Senior Authorised Electrical Person. You will also be required to commission, operate, fault find and repair electrical equipment whilst liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
