Technician in Automotive Technologies

We are currently looking to recruit a Technician to support our busy automotive workshops, staff and students. As the successful candidate, you will work with the existing team, ensuring that students are supported and provided with a safe working environment.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing workshops / resources and assisting teaching staff during practical sessions and assessments.
  • Undertaking regular checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure that it is in safe, working order.
  • Constructing training media, simulation rigs and systems involving new technologies.
  • Maintaining, diagnosing and reporting of faults with automotive-related equipment and training media.
  • Arranging the annual maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Carrying out an annual stock check of items of equipment.
  • Maintaining stock records.
  • Distribution and reclamation of materials.
  • Issuing students lockers and keeping suitable records.
  • Ordering materials, checking delivery notes and invoices.
  • Keeping management fully and regularly informed of issues affecting the operation of the automotive resources.
  • Showing a positive and responsible attitude towards safety and hygiene within the College, by maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
  • Carrying out safety checks along with COSHH and Risk Assessments for existing and new practices for the curriculum and for tools and equipment.
  • Producing instructional material and safe systems of work for equipment within the Automotive Academy.
  • Undertaking a First Aid qualification and administering first aid if necessary.
  • Undertaking such other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may reasonably be required.

You will have experience of the subject, and will hold a level 3 qualification or be willing to work towards one. Good IT skills, and good communication and motivation skills are essential.

In addition to your salary, you can expect an annual leave entitlement of 26 days for this role, plus Bank Holidays and additional College closure days over the festive period.
