Our new service providing intensive support to young people (aged 16 &17yrs) with challenging behaviours is a great opportunity for experienced housing support and youth workers to make a significant difference to the life chances of a small group of young men who have had the most challenging start in life.
Working in a recently converted house, which is home to four people who have spent time in local authority care, you’ll work intensively with the young people to develop their life skills so that they can move on to less specialist accommodation and engage with work, education or training. You’ll need to be able to respond positively and consistently to challenging behaviour, de-escalate tensions and provide a role model to young people with little
experience of having one.
You’ll demonstrate understanding of, or be willing to learn about the negative childhood experiences that cause trauma and its impact on young people as they make the difficult transition to adulthood. You’ll work alongside other professionals including social workers, youth justice workers and leaving care workers to develop appropriate interventions and packages of care and support.
What we offer: Life Assurance, Pension (up to 4% matched by FHA), Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Benefits, Additional Annual Leave Purchase Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, Learning programmes tailored to suit different roles and services, Health Cash Plan.
