Job Overview:

This role will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of planning and inventory control functions within the business.

Working alongside the Commercial, Purchasing and Operations teams, the Planning & Inventory Department will ensure that we offer excellent stock availability to a wide and varied customer base.

You will actively monitor demand and the availability and flow of materials through planning, inventory, and production to identify and resolve supply and production bottlenecks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning:

Monitor inventory levels (to include Raw Materials, Components, WIP, Sub-Assemblies, Finished Goods and direct purchase products) to ensure material availability and timely release of assembly orders to production to achieve OTD to all customers both internal and external.
Work closely and proactively with purchasing to establish and maintain inventory levels that support customer requirements.
Attend shortage meetings with a full production assembly list and list of all shortages on all assembly orders.
Monitor creation and distribution of production schedules; liaising daily with operations leadership and production supervisors to determine the progress of work and completion dates; and resolving issues on work in progress, inventory levels, and production problems with major emphasis on planning and inventory control excellence in component availability and on time production.
Coordinate directly with account managers, customer service and operations management in order to evaluate and process ad hoc unplanned requests.
Develop and maintain countermeasures to address root causes of customer service-related issues. Engage account management / customer service if there is a supply chain breakdown or production issue that stops us from delivering as promised.
Feedback information on the delayed orders spreadsheet by 10am the following working day - detailing status of order and an accurate revised despatch date.
Resolve competing requirements for common materials within planning, conflicting demand priorities within product management/customer service.
Collaboratively establish a forecasting team within the operation to deliver a rolling three-month stock plan out of season (Jan-July) and a robust plan in season (Aug-Dec)
Work with our third-party manufacturers ensuring component stock is available to hit their production lead times to enable seamless supply.

Inventory:

Manage the inventory control function to ensure that the objectives of accuracy (count, serial, lot, etc) and correct flow of paperwork and materials are achieved.
Ensure correct product is located in correct BC Locations & Bins.
Investigate all posting issues from despatch that arise from inventory or lot issues in a timely manner.
Managing and Organising Perpetual Inventory Counts
Managing and Organising Twice Yearly Stocktake (January/July)
Develop procedures and processes that help us improve our finished goods stocking levels, excess and obsolete stock identification and implement a perpetual inventory stock count plan.

You will manage the day-to-day workload and development of the Inventory Planning team.

Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role is essential.

Experience must include use of planning systems and material management.

A strong understanding of IT systems including ERP / MRP software and Office packages.

Previous experience of managing food shelf life would be advantageous.

Must have strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.

Good communication and leadership skills are essential.
