Due to an increase in referrals and progression within the organisation, Moxie People are recruiting for several permanent on behalf of a domestic abuse charity based in Cardiff.

As a Domestic Violence Support Worker, you will deliver a range of crisis intervention, early intervention and prevention work to women and families who are living in crisis because of domestic violence. You will support the empowerment of domestic violence victims by assisting them in recognising the signs and impact of domestic abuse and help them regain control of their lives.

What will your day-to-day look like as a Domestic Violence Support Worker?

* Offering a mix of crisis intervention, advice and information and emotional support

* Managing your own diary to keywork 6/7 clients depending on risk levels and needs

* Carrying out needs and risk assessments and putting support and safety plans in place

* Working in partnership with other agencies and organisations to offer a holistic approach

* Making sure accurate records are maintained through internal systems

* Helping clients prepare for moving into refuge and onto independent living

What do you need to be considered for this Support Worker role?

* Previous experience providing direct support to vulnerable women and families, whether in a domestic violence service or other housing related support services

* The ability to work in a fast-paced and reactive environment

* A forward-thinking attitude to crisis response

* The ability to remain calm and collected in challenging and traumatic situations

* Experience with casework, risk assessments and safety plans

* A full UK driving license and access to a car

Role details:

Salary: GBP20,500 - GBP22,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + generous on call allowance

Hours: Monday - Friday; 7.5hr days between 9am & 7pm on a rota basis. You will be required to work a Saturday or Sunday every 6-8 weeks. Shift patterns are normally 9am-4:30pm or 11:30am - 7pm with a 30min lunch break.

On call duties every 15 weeks: On call is from 4:30pm - 9am for a full week. Calls are filtered via the helpline with only urgent calls being passed to the on-call worker (there are often times when no calls are received at all). There is a GBP20 increment for each on call shift.
