Psychology Graduate - Learning Support Assistant - Teaching Assistant - SEMH - Autism

This is a learning support assistant role that is ideal for a psychology graduate that has an interest in working with vulnerable young people. The opportunity will commence in September 2021 and will be for the academic year through to July 2022.

Ideal role for an aspiring education or clinical Psychologist. The perfect opportunity to qualifying and disqualifying areas for yourself.

In this learning support role, you will be working in a school that has 2 campuses that has an outstanding approach full of restorative practices and positive engagement, pushing their students to have ambitious objectives. The school have a very diverse curriculum with GSCE, AQA and BTEC subjects; all focused on what is the very best for each student.

One of the school's campuses caters for students with social emotional mental health needs and Autism. The students need help and support to build effective relationships with their peers. It will take time and patience to build trust and positive working relationships with them. Due to their needs, they can have high levels of anxiety and anger which can result in volatile behaviour.

Some of the students will have over the top, boisterous personalities and others will be introvert and, in most severe cased, non-verbal. Your job will be to ensure you're getting the most out of their learning and that their behaviour is safe and under control. Keeping yourself, your colleagues and the students safe at all times is paramount.

Summary:

***Enabling SEMH and Autistic students to access the best education they can, setting up them up with objectives for when they leave school

***Working closely with art, occupational and speech and language therapists to implement a holistic, restorative approach to learning and behaviour management

***Positive re-enforcement and confidence building

***Working in a classroom setting and providing 1:1 support outside of the class

***Fantastic CPD provided by teachers and tutors, ideal if you're planning on starting an MSc in the future

***You will be working with likeminded Psychology Graduates, with similar objectives

***GBP75 per day, LSA role is for the academic year to July 2022, 8.15 to 16.15
