Our UK Business has six manufacturing plants providing a great place to work for 1500 employees producing private label soft drinks and fruit juices for all the leading retailers including Tesco, ASDA, Morrison's, Sainsburys, ALDI and Lidl. We also manufacture for branded customers such as Innocent, Ocean Spray, Weetabix, Del Monte and Um Bongo. Whether it's packed in cartons, bottles or cans, we ensure that our products are made to the highest quality standards but they get where they need to be when they need to get there to meet the needs of our high profile customers.
What you will be doing
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician to join the team at our Bondgate site in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will report into the Site Technical & Quality Manager and work alongside the team to lead and support the quality improvement and right first time agenda.
This role will be split 50/50 between the factory floor and the Quality Lab / Office. This is a fast paced role and would certainly suit someone who is looking to make their mark in the food/drinks manufacturing industry.
You will be required to build good working relationship with manufacturing teams including Operations, Engineering, Logistics and the 3rd party hygiene company to ensure that a collaborative approach to the site's quality and food safety agenda is achieved.
The main duties of this role include (but are not limited to):
* Analyse and report on product samples as required by Customers, in a timely manner using the internal quality management systems
* Complete site audits according to the required schedules, completing reports and providing recommendations
* Complete full investigations of consumer complaints and any non-conforming products, helping to determine root cause and corrective actions necessary to prevent reoccurrence
* Carry out calibrations and servicing of analytical measuring equipment, ensuring all calibrations are complete to the required frequency
* Ownership of internal quality management systems/pre requisites such as Control of Non-Conforming Product, Corrective and Preventative Action, Rework, Pest Control, Hygiene
* Provide support on 1st Production runs and line trials.
* Lead the sensory programme for the site ensuring a robust process is in place and adhered to.
* Provide support to the team with administrative tasks including data collection, monitoring and reporting
* Drive factory GMP and overall quality compliance by working closely with the site Shift Managers and Team Leaders
* Deliver quality and food safety related training to factory teams, to include CCP/analytical equipment use and standard quality checks.
* Lead, facilitate and participate in any problem solving activity following a quality or food safety incident ensuring root cause is understood and corrective/preventative actions are defined
* Provide the operations teams with regular updates on compliance, trends and recommendations for areas of improvement. Immediate communication of any high risk quality/food safety risks to the site Technical/Quality Manager
* Ensure change control is adhered to across all areas of the site.
* Ensure full completion of routine cleaning activities to the required standards by completing paperwork checks. Any deviation to compliance must be escalated and dealt with in a timely manner.
* Review the routine infrastructure cleaning activities ensuring the expected standards have been achieved
* Review and update cleaning SOP's for all manufacturing equipment.
* Provide coaching and guidance on cleaning best practice. Ensuring that the Operations team are using the most up to date industry tools and SOP's

Who we are looking for
Ideally you will have A' levels or a Degree in science/food technology or experience working within a food or drinks FMCG Manufacturing Plant.
You will have a passion for Quality with the ability to work well as part of a team. Knowledge of HACCP and CCPs would be beneficial. You will also need to be competent across the Microsoft suite of packages and in house Quality systems, with the ability to accurately input, monitor and review data.
You will have a passion for people and be capable of working alone, using your own initiative to prioritise your work and establish yourself as a Quality Assurance Technician within the Quality team on site. Good communication skills will be the key to your success in this role.

The salary for this role is dependent on experience. We offer a good company pension scheme plus 25 days holiday (pro rata) in addition to bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional holidays. Working hours are Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 5.00pm & Friday: 8.30am to 4.00pm
