Job Overview: We have been tasked by our client to seek an experience Manufacturing Systems Engineer with good knowledge of manufacturing engineering preferably withing the plastics/packaging industry.

Job Purpose:

* As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer you will be responsible for co-ordinating the activities of the production teams to achieve required customer commitments within agreed manufacturing, cost and quality standards and to generate continuous improvement in the cost and quality of manufacturing performance.

Nature and Scope of Position:

* Working closely alongside the Process Engineer and Training CI Co-Ordinator, the Manufacturing Systems Engineer prime responsibility will be the measurable optimisation of manufacturing departmental KPI's relating to OEE. This will be achieved through effective project management (DMAIC) and cultural development towards Lean manufacturing systems and process mapping.

Main Responsibilities:

* Define, build and deploy manufacturing procedures within the Zaptic system (Daily management)

* Identify opportunities for the process optimisation and automation

* Established base line manufacturing systems of work (5s/Kanban/Material flow/Process mapping)

* Working within the operations team to identify and exploit opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvements

* Continually review performance standards for manufacturing and agree plans to achieve continuous improvement of key performance indicators

* Continually review quality systems with the production team to ensure that all quality standards, company and legal requirements are achieved, whilst seeking to improve these standards at all times

* Support and drive cultural change initiative in line with company vision

* Production admin support

As a key player within the manufacturing team the jobholder will need to:

* Demonstrate strong hands-on leadership through engagement at all levels of the organisation.

* Agree, communicate, support and review performance standards across operational teams for all manufacturing activities e.g scrap efficiencies, housekeeping etc.

* Ensure that all internal and external quality issues are investigated thoroughly, rectify and report issues where necessary

* Ensure that teams are trained in and comply and with all statutory regulations and company standards concerning health and safety and hygiene e.g Personal Protective Equipment, Nosie at Work, HACCP etc.

* Support and review of performance with each team daily and weekly to ensure that agreed production and quality targets are being achieved.

* Continuously appraise team members, identifying both internal and external training requirements.

* Support, motivate and develop team and individuals by effective coaching, feedback, facilitation and training

* Develop methods of maximising use of MEP to minimise duplication of data in Excel

* Work closely with the Finance department to ensure BOM and BOO accuracy

* Support the Operations Manager in meeting OTIF and inventory targets

* Have a flexible approach to working

Prerequisite

* Previous experience in a manufacturing engineering/management role held within a manufacturing environment preferably within the plastics/packaging industry

* NVQ Level 3/4 technical or management qualification

* Demonstrable ability to drive change throughout the manufacturing department through continuous improvement tools and techniques (DMAIC/5S/SMED etc.)

* Strong man management, communication and inter-personal skills.

* Ambition and drive to further develop within the organisation

Working Hours:

* Full time day pattern (40 hours 07:00 -15:30 Monday to Friday)
