What you'll be doing
As a Network Engineer your role will be to help maintain and support both our internal and customers network infrastructure and services. The role sits within the IT Operations team who are primarily responsible for the management, operation and support of our network systems and equipment responding to incidents and events either reported by the customer or through our monitoring and event management systems.
This role can be based out of either our Hitchin or Manchester offices (with the option for flexible working) and will require customer site visits for particularly complex issues. You are also expected to participate in the out of hours call rota, responding to high priority incidents.
On any given day you will be:
* Providing remote and on-site troubleshooting and support
* Respond to networking incidents, either system generated or via customer notification
* Reviewing event and incident data and alerts
* Fulfilling managed changes and service requests
* Carrying out proactive management tasks such as upgrades, patching and event management
* Creation of network documentation, Knowledge Base (KB) articles, Work Instructions (WIs) and Change Request documentation,
* Work closely with the ITSM team to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved
* Identify operational and process improvement opportunities
* Maintaining and updating operational process and procedural documentation
* Contribute and support the team with the delivery of all other goals & objectives
What we're looking for
* Experience working in a network focussed IT service role with a relevant qualification such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, etc.
* Extensive experience configuring and supporting networking infrastructure including routers and switches
* Experience of working with security products, particularly Cisco ASA & Firepower
* Working knowledge of Juniper SRX platform
* Knowledge and understanding of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
* Experience utilising monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, PRTG, LibreNMS, Nagios etc.
* Understanding of network security, AAA, TACACS, Radius, 802.1x
* Good understanding of wireless systems, specifically: Meraki, Ubiquiti, Cisco, but other vendor experience accepted
