Learning Volunteers Needed

We are looking for people who love working with children and would like to encourage them to explore our canals and rivers. You would be joining a vibrant volunteer community within Canal & River Trust.

Our Explorers education team provides curriculum linked school workshops both in school and at events.

We also deliver essential water safety talks and activities. As a volunteer within our team you would receive full training and be paid expenses. You would have the support of a Learning & Skills Coordinator as well as the other volunteers in the team. You would never be asked to volunteer alone.

We are looking for people who would feel confident going into schools to deliver workshops, as well as attending events, talking to the public and running activities for schools and families.

We are looking for the following skills;

  • Previous experience of working with children and young people or a strong desire to gain experience.
  • The confidence to talk to and lead workshops with groups of children
  • The ability to enthuse young people through talks and activities
  • The ability to volunteer flexibly

This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not always a bar to volunteering with us.
