Role: Supplier Engineer

Opportunity

As an integral part of the Instrument Operations team, reporting to the Instrument Supply Chain manager, you will be responsible for both Supplier Engineering functions and component and sub assembly sourcing with new and existing supply base within the Instrument Supply Chain group. You will be responsible for managing supply challenges with current products and developing new supply and Suppliers for new product introductions. Ensuring delivery of materials on time to schedule and required quality levels.

Key Areas of Responsibility

* Ability to Review specifications and find sources for required parts. Typically electronic components and plastic moulding to support R&D and Contract Manufacturers.

* Request quotes and raise purchase orders for NPI materials and Test development. Also, assist finding components and alternatives when shortages arise in supply chain.

* Monitor changes to components and plastics in the development process and make adjustments as needed to meet the schedules and requirements.

* Analyse new vendors for their ability to meet or exceed our Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements. Research, find and assess by collaborating with R&D for the best Suppliers to support technical and volume requirements.

* Represent Instrument Supply Chain within R&D development teams and be an asset to the development process providing supply chain experience.

* Provide technical advice and guidance to Suppliers on Company requirements. Feedback Supplier constraints on capacity and technical capabilities. Arrange technical meetings between Development and Suppliers as needed.

* Conduct site visits to Supplier facilities to review and assess manufacturing equipment and capacity and Supplies procedures and QMS.

* Represent Supply Chain in Supplier quality audits to ensure technical compliance.

* Monitor Supplier Quality levels and defect rates to identify quality issues. Manage and implement Supplier corrective action to Supplier defects.

* Develop second sources and alternatives.

* Quality issue and adherence management within supply chain. Actively take part in Supplier management processes.

* Operate within ISO 13485.

* Put in place initial Supplier documentation such Non-disclosure agreements & Manufacturing supply agreements.

* Reporting on supplier performance with vendor rating/scorecards & KPIs.

* Assist in Supplier Quality Audits.

* Manage Supplier Assessments.

About You

To be successful in this role you must be a highly motivated individual that can demonstrate flexibility and a can-do attitude. You should ensure positive, productive and proactive relationships with a range of internal and external key stakeholders

Essential skills

* Must have proven experience in a similar Supplier Engineering role with multiple vendors and supplier base.

* Experience working with Suppliers in Electronic, Electro mechanical and Plastic Moulding Industry.

* Ability to use Microsoft packages to analysis and reporting level.

* Technical/Engineering background and knowledge.

Desirable skills

* Experience within Medical Device industry and experience operating within a ISO13485.

* Experience of working with Electronic Contract Manufacturing. Knowledge of the supply chain to contract manufacturers is desired.

* ERP System experience.

* Electronic Technologies, Detailed understanding of component specifications.

* Succession potential within Supply Chain.
