Our client who are a market leading OEM are looking for a Composite Manufacturing Engineer to join the team and work on new and exciting projects for the aerospace sector. This role will heavily involve developing composite processing techniques, engineering assembly strategies and improving manufacturing processes in line with a Zero Defects philosophy. The role is varied and will also involve interacting with customers in support of NPI and existing product programmes

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

Academic Qualifications to HNC/HND level or relevant engineering experience within aerospace industry (candidates from other industries may be considered i.e. motorsport, automotive).
Able to use CATIA (or similar 3D package) to interrogate 3D models (advantageous)
Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills and the ability to deliver results within a high performance culture (HPC) environment.
Can do, will do attitude - able to work as part of a team or independently to deliver to a common goal.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office suites.
Core Responsibilities

Knowledge and appreciation of composite materials processing methods such as in and out of autoclave pre-preg systems and Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), along with knowledge of core processing techniques.
Ability to create work instructions for composite components to encompass all processes (kit cutting, laminating, curing through to Assembly and Paint) to comply with customer specifications.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant composite materials
Engineering project management mind-set with particular reference to NPI activities as well as being the technical point of contact for external customers.
Experience in identifying and specifying tooling requirements for moulding and assembly processes and the ability to accept and approve tooling for production use.
Proven track record in leading continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies to evaluate existing manufacturing processes - implementing improvements to enhance process performance.
Ability to create/maintain BoMs and Routings within an ERP system.
Comprehensive understanding of a range of problem solving techniques such as (but not limited to) 8D and 5 Whys - Greenbelt is advantageous.
Experience in the conducting of PFMEA's and implementation of control plans across a range of different product lines.
Ability to influence and provide support to ensure manufacturing methods are understood and followed, ensuring a continuous product flow
