Our well-established client on the outskirts on Huntingdon is looking for a machine / plant operator on a temp to permanent basis.

The role

As a technical operator, you will be part of a small shift team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the factory production plant and machinery.

This role requires following the start-up, running and shut down procedures, including emergency shutdown procedures, in accordance with SOPs and training.

The candidate will also be required to carry out routine conditioning checks & inspections of production equipment, as well as maintaining machine cleanliness and general housekeeping standards.

The end goal is to ensure that production procedures can be carried out smoothly to maximise efficiency and meet production targets.

Responsibilities

Setting up and running of machinery in accordance with required parameters
Control and adjustment of machine settings to maintain quality and performance
Ensuring processes are supplied with materials and consumables as required
Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
Test operation of machines periodically
Fix issues within the operators capability and safe working that might occur during the shift
Ensure appropriate quality of output through inspection and delivery of QC processes
Work with SOPs
Manage the safe shut down of the machinery
Operate a counterbalance fork truck and telehandler for moving feedstock and finished product (experience preferred, but training can be given)
The Person

Essential

Full driving licence (site is remote, so transport is required)
Experience in manufacturing operation and especially as a machine operator
Understanding of production procedures
Ability to be flexible and respond to changing demands and conditions - while operating within SOPs
Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with colleagues at all levels
A team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers
Attention to detail
Must have a proficient level of safety knowledge and respect for safety precautions (e.g. constant use of protective gear)

Desirable

Valid forklift license for counterbalance or reach vehicles
Technical degree or vocational qualifications is a plus

GBP10.50/hr (days) GBP13.50 (nights) Mon - Fri 06:00 - 18:00 or 18:00 - 06:00 (minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime potentially available)
