Job Purpose

The successful new Product Manager shall be responsible for identifying new suppliers throughout Eastern Europe, Western Asia and South America, identifying new suppliers for our clients range of products.

Key Responsibilities

To improve the diversity of our clients supplier base particular finding suppliers in Easter Europe, West Asia and South America.
Working with the Product Managers to understand the current sourcing bottle necks, and offer new suppliers to improve the diversity of the supplier base.
Source factories that can compete or improve on the current cost base with no reduction in the quality of the products.
Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Develop communications with relevant suppliers in a manner, which promotes goodwill and trust, visiting key suppliers when travel restrictions are lifted.
Place Purchase Orders with suppliers (utilising the Purchasing Assistant).
Explore product opportunities with existing and potential new suppliers, including assistance with product promotions.
Identify and log price variations, movements and trends in liaison with the Purchasing Assistant. Analyse these together with the Head of Purchasing other relevant staff.
Consult with Purchasing Assistant on a daily basis keeping abreast of supplier issues and taking action where required to resolve problems.
Identify cost saving opportunities and recommending them to the Head of Purchasing.The Product Manager will also be responsible for assisting the Head of Product and Purchasing in addition to carrying out visits to the warehouse to ensure that products are delivered, and to specification.

Experience & Key Skills

The Product Manager should possess the following traits:

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (desirable).
A working good knowledge and understanding of Purchasing principles, especially when setting up new suppliers and contracts.
It would be desirable, but not essential, for the candidate to have an understanding of metal fabrication techniques.
Experience of working within a Product Manager or Buyer role.
Finding new suppliers and understanding the process those factories offer to the business.
Experience of buying from the Eastern Europe, South America or Western Asia is essential.
Use of SAP or similar purchasing system.
Good Excel skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
