BASIC SALARY: GBP60,000 - GBP70,000

JOB DESCRIPTION: Business Development Manager / Senior Key Account Manager - Retail Interiors, Shop Fitting, Retail Displays, Point of Sales, POS Solutions
A dual role involving managing a multi million pound major multiple grocery account at a strategic, head office level and being the right hand person and potentially natural successor to the Sales Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Development Manager / Senior Key Account Manager - Retail Interiors, Shop Fitting, Retail Displays, Point of Sales, POS Solutions
?? The account management aspect of the role will involve developing relationships at as senior level as possible via strategic account management to keep abreast of the latest developments and influence those developments to my client's advantage.
?? With retailers opening fewer stores, the growth of on-line and the quality and durability of my client's products lasting for many years mean that account growth and development requires a more proactive approach.
?? That means not only spotting future trends but creating future needs with clients by having the credibility and strength to challenge their current practices / the status quo and come up with solutions.
?? The ability to do this can only come from a very good understanding of the retail environment, customer insights and behaviour and the ability and/ or contacts to have strategic discussions at senior management or board level (Operations, Loss Prevention, Customer Service or Efficiency Director up to CEO), rather than just procurement.
?? The management aspect of the role will involve playing a big part in helping the Sales Director manage, motivate and support the team of Account Managers' who are handling major retail accounts in the grocery, department store, health/ beauty/ automotive, convenience, consumer electronics, home improvement/ DIY, pharmacy and restaurant/ cafe chain market.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
?? To be considered for this potentially very rewarding role financially and in terms of your career development, you will need to have an excellent knowledge of retail operations, customer insight and behaviours and be able to converse and sell credibly at a high level with clients.
?? Ideally you will come from a senior sales management, Directorship or Key, Major, Strategic or National Account or Business Development Manager role selling retail interior, shopfitting or point of sale/ retail display solutions and related services into the retail environment preferably with prior senior management/ operational experience with a retailer.
?? Or you could come directly from one of these senior operational roles with a retailer giving you the ability and insight to deal at a senior and with the desire and capability to move into a senior B2b role.
?? Either way you will have management experience and have a structured, strategic, but dynamic approach to developing a senior sales team.

My client is a multinational group with operations in over 25 countries, over 3,000 employees and a GBP600m annual turnover. The UK operation has a turnover circa GBP100m over 200 staff with a good sized Account Manager/ Customer Relationship / Sales team. Their client list is a "who's who" of retailers across major multiple grocery, fashion, department stores, convenience, consumer electronics, home improvement/ DIY, cafes, restaurants, health & beauty, pharmacy and automotive. They are a byword for innovation and quality in their market.
PROSPECTS:
Very good as the right hand person of the Sales Director and part of a natural succession plan or elsewhere in a successful multinational group.
It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Key Account Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, National Account Manager, Strategic Account Manager, Major Account Manager - Retail Interiors, Retail Display, Shop Fitting, Point of Sale, POS.
