Young People First has an exciting opportunity available for a Sessional Youth Worker to join us based in Leamington Spa. You will join us on a part time, fixed term basis working approximately 8 hours per week split across 2 evenings.
About the role:
As our Sessional Youth Worker, you will work as part of a team to deliver exciting and engaging activities for young people aged 10 - 16 within an open-access youth club.
You will deliver activities, create opportunities and provide support to help disadvantaged young people transition to a self-assured adulthood.
What you will be doing as our Sessional Youth Worker:
* Adhering to and promoting the youth work values of inclusion, participation, empowerment and education
* Establishing relationships and a style of working that will enable the young people to develop themselves and progress to realise their abilities and potential
* Attending training when necessary to ensure your confidence, compliance and capability in a youth work environment
* Providing one-to-one support and informal mentoring for individual young people according to their needs
* Involving young people in the development of activities and opportunities
* Recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
* Contributing to the evaluation process and the accurate recording of required information, such as registers and session evaluations
Our ideal Sessional Youth Worker will have the below skills and experience:
* Experience of working with young people, specifically 10-16 years old
* Able to understand, empathise and form positive professional relationships with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people
* Ability to deliver sessions for young people that reflects Young People First's values of : Trust, Care, Professionalism, Passion and 'The Young Person at the Centre'
* Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and associated responsibilities that ensure the welfare of young people
* Knowledge of key legislations affecting work with youth and young people
* Working knowledge of GDPR
