Data Protection Officer - The Role:

UK Parking Control have an exciting opportunity for a Data Protection Officer to join the team at their Head Office in Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and overseeing Data Protection issues within the Company.

The Data Protection Officer will be required to have a good understanding of how data protection sits within a commercial organisation and must be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of education and experience to be able to take on these responsibilities

The role will involve the development and understanding of specific laws which relate to the parking industry as well as wider Data protection regulations which we would expect you to already have a considerable understanding of.

Data Protection Officer - Key Responsibilities:

- Provide support, advice and assurance of compliance across the business

- Maintain expert knowledge of data protection law and practices and how they apply to UKPC and all their operations

- Be the first point of contact within the organisation for all data protection matters

- Support the Programme Manager in project design from inception to ensure that data protection is implemented by design in new systems and processes

- The Data Protection Officer will ensure that appropriate confidentiality is maintained at all times

- You must ensure that the DPO responsibilities are not influenced in any way and should a potential conflict of interest arise report it to the Chief Strategy Officer

- Develop or advise senior management on the development and establishment of policies, procedures and other measures to ensure compliance with the GDPR, Data Protection Act and all subordinate legislation

- Auditing the business as appropriate to ensure policies and procedures are being followed as intended

- Supporting development and innovation within the business and identifying needs for a data protection impact assessment (DPIA)

- Consulting with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) where proposed processing poses a high risk in the absence of proposed mitigations

- Understanding the risks involved in UKPC's operation and effectively relay these to the Head of Compliance

- Working with the Head of Compliance and others to mitigate risks where possible

Data Protection Officer - You:

- Taking ownership of tasks and following through to completion

- Managing multiple projects at the same time

- Excellent record keeping

- Ensuring regulatory guidelines are followed by all departments

- Making suggestions for improvements

- Time management

- Able to take ownership and accountability when making decisions

- Deal professionally with all types of stakeholders (internal and external)
