THE CLIENT
Our Client operates a strategic waste management facility in the central belt of Scotland. The facility includes landfill, renewable power generation, waste, soil, and leachate treatment
The landfill operation accepts waste that is ultimately converted into renewable electricity via the on-site power generation facility. This includes power generation capability of 12 MW.
JOB OUTLINE
We are seeking an experienced supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the landfill gas and leachate infrastructure in order to maintain environmental compliance and maximise the export of renewable energy from the sites embedded power generation facility. The role involves the supervision of the landfill gas and leachate control teams along with maintaining a close working relationship with power and landfill operations.
The role will require the successful candidate to be familiar with current landfill regulations and to form a close working relationship with SEPA.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of competency, plus have good communication, organisation and problem solving skills.
DUTIES
?? Management of the gas and leachate systems within to ensure compliance with
PPC permit, planning permission, Health & safety and current legislations.
?? Supervision of Gas and leachate staff coupled with the management of resources to achieve company objectives.
?? Assist the Landfill general manager with the supervision and management of sub-contractors within the embedded landfill facility.
?? Maximise the operational efficiency of the landfill gas & leachate collection systems to maintain environmental compliance and optimise exported renewable power from the embedded power generation facility.
?? Review and report on monitoring data and formulate improvement/ action plans.
?? To carry out regular site audits.
?? To work closely with SEPA, managing a variety of issues that arise on the site.
?? Preparing monthly reports to SEPA.
?? Ensure the maintenance of equipment and infrastructure is carried out in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations & site management's instructions.
?? Support site management with contractor control (site inductions, Permit to work, supervision etc.).
?? Establish and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental control in accordance with the company ISO accreditation.
?? Assist with the management and budgetary control of gas, leachate and power station improvement works.
?? Review and discuss modifications to work instructions and risk assessments for the activities carried out on site.
?? Maintain communication with the power station supervisor, to maximise generation and maintain environmental control
?? Maintain a good level of communication with the landfill manager in the form of regular meetings and discussions.
?? To represent the company to its customers & visitors
?? Meet with regulatory authorities and other visitors when required.
EXPERIENCE
?? Has experience or has demonstrated a high degree of aptitude in environmental and / or waste legislation.
?? Has experience or has demonstrated a high degree of aptitude in analytical problem solving.
?? Has experience or has demonstrated an aptitude in using field test equipment.
?? Can think outside the box and react to situations quickly and professionally
?? Has experience of electro fusion equipment and practices
?? Has a recognised health and safety qualification i.e. IOSH, NEBOSH
?? Mechanical and or electrical background
?? Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
