Over the last three decades the City of Manchester has transformed its economic base, created new urban districts and revived historic quarters once in decline. From iconic landmarks across the city centre and East Manchester’s neighbourhood regeneration to established residential communities, the City has worked with public/private partners to overcome challenges and improve the quality of life of our residents, encourage the attraction and retention of talent, and create the conditions for sustainable economic, social and cultural growth.
From Ancoats and New Islington to Spinningfields, NOMA, St Johns and The Factory, Mayfield and the UK’s biggest new Arena - Co-op Live - the City continues to develop and grow. ID Manchester, a new innovation district led by the University of Manchester, and the on-going NHS Trust estate renewal are all key components of the next stage of the Manchester story.
But there is more to do.
Manchester is a city with a long and proud tradition of triumphing over adversity and our recovery plans in response to the global Covid19 pandemic focus on our key regeneration opportunities and investible propositions, building on new initiatives including our zero carbon ambitions, to ensure the City can continue to grow and prosper.
Do you want to be part of a dynamic team leading the next chapter in the story of Manchester? Candidates must be computer literate, at least 3 years' experience of leading, implementing and managing programmes and projects to deliver regeneration
Manchester City Council is committed to giving fair support to members of the Armed Forces and veterans, whilst recognising and remembering the sacrifices they have made. The aim of The Armed Forces Covenant is to ensure that the Armed Forces and veterans are not disadvantaged, when applying for vacancies with Manchester City Council. Armed Forces and veterans will be guaranteed an interview where they meet the Minimum requirements for the role.
Manchester City Council values equality and works to provide a fair and inclusive environment for a workforce that is as diverse as the communities it serves. We want to further increase the diversity of our workforce, in particular the number of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff and disabled staff at all levels of the Council. This advert is open to all applicants, and we would particularly welcome applications from candidates identifying with one or both of those characteristics.
