The Health Safety and Environmental Manager / HSE Manager role:

Drive the department and lead the HSE team, including Occupational Health, to provide operational Health, Safety and Environmental leadership across all areas of the West Yorkshire site with hands-on approach to support, advice and problem solving.

• Collaborate with the management team to establish safety procedures and embed safe working practises. Provide advice, support and innovative solutions for safety problem solving.
• Development and effective implementation of appropriate HSE procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation, Company Directives and ISO requirements.
• Effective reporting and communication with direct manager to drive and manage overall compliance and achievement of the site H&S and environment objectives and KPI's.
• Provide operational support for the implementation of ISO 45001.
• Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting H&S, safe working practices and awareness in the workplace, to promote safety and enhance the HSE culture
• The identification health and safety risks: assessed, managed and appropriate control measures taken in order to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage action Database and Safety Software, record data and monitor the information contained therein
• Provide relevant training, education, communication and subject matter expertise to the site and relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate incident investigations where required, monitor safety concerns, near misses, accidents and RIDDOR for the site; ensuring full investigation and recommended actions are taken to prevent re-occurrence
• Carry out site inspections, safety tours and audits, providing advice and support to line management where corrective actions are required.
• Manage the Site HSE Dept. functions, including Occupational Health, and supporting functions, such as the first aid team, H&S Reps and H&S Committee.

The Person:

• Has achieved NEBOSH (General Certificate) or equivalent, Ideally has accreditation to Diploma Level, would be an advantage if has certification in environmental management.
• Experienced health, safety and environment professional who has held a HSE management position, preferably within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Extensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety & Environmental standard ISO1400
• Experience of Health and Safety management, ISO45001, assessments, PUWER, auditing and culture development
• Leadership and management of a small team, and can lead by example and mentor / develop the team as required.
• Ideally background spent within manufacturing, this can be high volume activates within a setting from Manufacturing, food, engineering etc
