This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding role within Joint Corporate Legal Services at North Yorkshire Police which is part of Evolve Legal Services advising the Chief Constables and the Police and Crime Commissioners and their staff across North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Durham policing areas.

You will work with and be accountable to the Police Lawyers (Civil Litigation) and (Operational) and other lawyers as appropriate.

Both posts are full time and provide paralegal support to the Police Lawyers and will focus on the areas of Civil Litigation and Operational Police Law.

The roles will include providing support for matters such as but not limited to;

• Public Liability claims for assault, false imprisonment, and malicious prosecution
• Police Property Act claims
• Advice on PACE and police powers
• Proceeds of Crime Act applications
• Public Protection matters
• Firearms Licencing
• Domestic Violence Protection Orders
• Civil Orders including Sexual Risk Orders and Sexual Harm Prevention Orders.

Candidates able to demonstrate prior experience in the above areas of law, or other aspects of civil law affecting the police, are particularly encouraged to apply as are those who have completed or in the process of completing their Legal Practice Course.

You will be a team player as well an effective decision maker and communicator with a high level of attention to detail. You will have IT and research skills as well being able to effectively manage high workloads and work to specific deadlines.

The role is primarily based within North Yorkshire Police Headquarters at Alverton Court, Crosby Road, Northallerton, DL6 1AD however the role involves agile working or working from home.

Relocation is not applicable to this post.
