My client are a world leading designer and manufacturer of specialist machinery based near Cambridge. With an enviable track record of leading the development of products in their sector, based on massive investment in their R&D strategies, they are at the forefront of the innovation in their field.
As part of their growth plans for 2021, they are looking to recruit additional support into their software and hardware integration teams with hire of an experienced Software Engineer.
In this role, you will be responsible for the development of software modules for their range of bespoke automated equipment. This fundamentally involves developing software capable of integrating with hardware interfacing with motion controllers, vision systems and liquid handlers. You will be required to provide coding documentation, develop code and test modules that have been designed. You will also be involved in the direct integration of the software and hardware systems in a dynamic R & D environment.
Key Skills:
- Development of Hardware and Software using any of C#, C++, Javascript or 61131 Text
- Experience with interfacing with RS232/485, ModBus/Profibus, EtherCat
- Using Motor Controllers for Motion Control
- Software testing, debugging and validation
Ideally you will be degree qualified in a related subject (engineering - software, electrical, electronic, automation) or possess a strong vocational education (HND/HNC with supplemental training). You will have at least 3 years experience in multiple PLC development for multiple systems. and have hands on experience with hardware integration and testing. Experience of automation controls would be required, along with a background of implementing those systems to global safety standards.
