MECHANICAL ENGINEER

This well established and thriving company is looking for a confident Mechanical Engineer to be part of their successful team at their Mansfield based Office.

Reporting into the Engineering Director the role offers an attractive package of GBP30-32K dependent on experience plus benefits and offers a varied and busy workshop and site based workload.

The Mechanical Engineer will require a proactive attitude and work ethic with experience of working in a fast-paced environment and have experience of mechanical assembly, fabrication and installation of stainless steel material handling systems.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing support throughout this busy, vibrant business.

Core duties:

* Mechanical assembly and testing of stainless steel conveyor / materials handling systems.

* Lead/carry out the installation of conveyor / materials handling systems at customer's site.

* Fabrication and welding of frames and general fabrications (TIG).

* Effectively communicate and escalate build and installation issues to the rest of the business

* Maximise the number of productive hours & help to ensure all target hours are met.

* Advise the Design Team of issues and improvements in order to continuously improve drawings standards and minimise the chance of reoccurring mistakes.

* Communicate lessons learnt and potential new sales enquiries / leads to the rest of the business

* Assist the sales force in developing / maintaining customer relationships.

* Demonstrate good HSE practices and ways of working at all times.

* Help and support Apprentices home and improve their skills.

* Ensure you represent the company's best interests on site

THE PERSON

The successful candidates will be a well organised, self-driven individual with a good work ethic and a desire to work in a busy working environment. A flair for attention to detail is required with the drive to exceed team-wide targets.

You will also be:

* Apprentice trained (or equivalent) with a recognised qualification in Fabrication desirable

* Able to work under pressure.

* Willing to work on site with overnight stays where required

* Able to weld (Tig) and solve problems.

* Able to fabricate stainless steel

* Qualified in emergency first aid

* Qualified scaffold erector, FLT license, scissor lift licence

* Able to deal with colleagues and customers in a fair and diplomatic way and offer guidance and support where needed.

* Able and willing to understand and follow Company procedures, policies and management systems.

* A good team player.
