A family-owned, multi award-winning company is seeking an Operations Manager to balance both fleet and staff utilisation to maximise effective deployment of both, and ensure the business makes maximum net yield from every hire. The Operations Manager will have strong business knowledge, excellent communication and people skills.

Responsibilities:

The allocation of drivers and vehicles using the Coach Manager system to the hires / work within the system. This can change daily or even on occasion hourly.

Ensuring legal compliance to the Drivers Hours rule and regulations is paramount, so that no breaches occur.

Calculating and Scheduling of driver rest breaks to ensure compliance and maximum business efficiencies. Forward planning for when drivers should or could have rest to ensure that there are enough staff for peak times.

Production of drivers work tickets, daily rosters, including emailing driver schedules on a weekly basis and ensuring that all staff are aware of any changes which may directly affect them.

Constant and effective communication with all staff members so that you are aware of all aspects of the business. e.g. work shop supervisor to ensure which vehicles are available and vice-versa which vehicles he needs for service, repair or mot.

Polite friendly communication with all clients and prospective clients so that they feel that they are dealing with a professional company at all times.

Organising and preparing European Drivers Packs (specific training required)

Booking parking for Drivers, Airports, hotel rooms etc

Answering inbound calls to deal with enquiries, take quotation details and process enquiries and bookings.

Deal with out of hours staff enquiries or break down issues with hires (e.g. driver going ill, vehicle not being available - which vehicle should they take etc)

Any other duties the company deems necessary to the role.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

Essential:

Have strong business knowledge, looking for where increased profit can be gained

Have understanding of cost / price hires to the company model

Help support disciplinary issues of staff

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and people facing skills

Have a methodical mindset to ensure detailed scheduling of all work.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office

Desirable:

Hold or be willing to take PSV License.

A High-level understanding of EU Driver Hours Rules and Regulations

Possess a current PCV licence or be willing to be trained to achieve, to enable additional company support as needed.

Practical working knowledge of a transport business

Hours:

Hours are minimum of 47.5 hours Monday to Friday between 7.00am to 17.30pm, and 1-hour unpaid lunch break, additional on-call elements are required.

Salary:

GBP35,000 - GBP40,000
