2020 marked our centenary of Marshall apprenticeships, do you want to become a part of the exciting world of engineering and help to shape its future? Have you thought about working towards a level 2 Engineering qualification that will set you on the path to becoming an Engineering Fitter? Are you bright, hardworking and up for a challenge? If the answers are yes, yes and yes then have you thought about becoming an Engineering Apprentice with Marshall Land Systems. This is a path that will give you real-world, hands-on experience of working in an aerospace engineering environment.

As an engineering fitter apprentice, you will be exposed to a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the Engineering Operative Standard, completing qualifications in:

* Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)

* Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Development of Technical Knowledge)

Not only will this demonstrate competency in the role but will complement wider business strategy and enable you to support your long-term career development.

The 18 month apprenticeship involves an initial period spent in the training centre learning hand skills required for the role, and completing the level 2 Diploma. Once you have completed this initial training, you will undertake rotations around some of our 12 departments within Land Systems. This includes weld, manufacturing, paint and design. This will give you a valuable opportunity to meet colleagues from around the business and to gain an understanding of the process from bids through to finished products.

After the rotations you will begin your Level 2 knowledge development and will be based on the shop floor with a mentor. The goal is to become fully qualified as a skilled Mechanical Assembly and Installation Fitter.

The work at Land Systems is extremely varied. It can involve prototyping, assembly and modifications through to maintenance of in-service equipment. You will work as part of a varied multidisciplinary team, where you will develop invaluable skills. We pride ourselves in high quality solutions that meet or exceed the customer's needs.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship a skilled Mechanical Assembly and Installation Fitter is expected to be able to:

* Understand the process of building a shelter structure and be competent in assembling the subcomponents.

* Integrate and install common items of equipment such as ACU's, IT racks, desks, CT scanners, machinery, antennas etc.

* Work on a variety of different products ranging from vehicle installations, shelter construction and refurbishments.

* Read and interpret approved engineering data (technical drawings, test plans, technical data, repair manuals etc.)

* Perform modifications to equipment or parts

* Perform maintenance to equipment, including refurbishment of shelters.

* Meet the high standards of quality
