Laboratory Integration Specialist
Location: Mobile
Job Purpose
To deliver Laboratory Integration solution work packages for laboratory applications as part of a project team, undertaking proactive management of any pre-requisite tasks potentially impacting solution delivery. Identify, report and manage risks and issues encountered to ensure that project activities are completed on time, within the agreed budgeted effort and to the agreed specification.
The role requires the delivery of integration solutions and support of laboratory interfaces pertaining to laboratory instruments, analysers, data managers and third-party application systems working closely with clients, third party vendors, deployment staff and laboratory application product specialists. The role also requires the delivery of Systems Integration support for interfaces and integrated managed service sites working closely with deployment staff, application support and clients undertaking proactive management of laboratory interface support issues\incidents impacting solution service. Identify report and manage interface risks and issues encountered to ensure resolution within the agreed client service level agreements.
The role requires customer liaison to define business and user data requirements, providing clarification of issue requirements and assisting in technical solution specification and design where appropriate.
The role does require travel to customer sites within the UK and Internationally.
Main Responsibilities
- To carry out technical analysis, design, configuration, testing, data mapping and implementation activities of interface routines against the DXC laboratory product portfolio.
- To assist with the full range of testing activities and associated documentation production, for both internal tests and customer acceptance tests. Utilising technical skills to create test stubs and test harnesses as required for interfaces.
- To evaluate requested changes for existing interfaces and routines and create specifications according to established standards and procedures in a timely manner.
- To assist the Support team and Customer Services colleagues by trouble shooting live customer support issues, especially when they pose a clinical risk.
- To provide analysis, investigation, testing and resolution of integration related issues logged via incident management systems for interface routines contained within the DXC laboratory product portfolio, adhering to the target timescales specified within the client service level agreements.
- Provide proactive management of integration issues and logs within the DXC incident management systems, ensuring that appropriate incident progress updates, change approval processes and referral changes are applied and recorded as necessary.
- To review product release notices and carry out impact analysis of product upgrades on interfaces as required.
- In a pre-sales capacity to assist a bid response team, as directed, providing guidance and information to ensure that the implementation of solutions is considered and communicated in the bid process
- To represent the company at user meetings as a technical support specialist for Laboratory Integration, during pre-sales and support activity. Contribute to the continued professional development of the DXC Systems Integration team through presentations and internal forum.
Critical
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration in the specialised Application, or related field is required. For applicants with degrees not related to Computer Science, significant experience in systems integration/testing is required. (The equivalent combination of education, training, application/hardware support, hardware/software installation projects, and hospital/clinic operation experience may be substituted.)
- Extensive, detailed analysis skills in a technical environment, with experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Implementation and support of health systems software interfaces
- Experience of Intersystems Cache (versions 5, 2010, 2015, 2017)
- Communication protocols and standard messaging structures (HL7, TCP/IP, ASTM)
- Database concepts and databases (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, Mumps)
- Ability to create and interpret logical and physical data models
- Operating systems (UNIX - AIX & HPUX, Linux, Windows )
- Experience working in a healthcare environment, implementing, or otherwise working closely with healthcare application systems
- Demonstrable experience in managing, analysing, implementing, and supporting applications, interfaces, databases and/or web related projects and ability to multi-task on multiple project implementations.
Desired
- Domain expertise in the private and/or public laboratory health industry.
- Business Analysis qualification or experience
- Clinical, technical or business change experience in a discipline relevant to DXC's customer base in the UKI
- In-depth knowledge of DXC systems and solutions
