Freight Forwarder

As a long established and well-respected freight forwarding company based in Halifax, West Yorkshire we now have the opportunity for a confident and experienced Freight Forwarder to join our AEO accredited company and help us to continue delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of import and export shipping.
Key role and responsibilities for Freight Forwarder:
* Manage all aspects of sea / air / trailer import and export shipments
* Handle detailed import and export customs clearance processes
* Monitor cargo movements and keep customers updated
* Liaise with customers, carriers, HMRC and customs brokers
* Create and maintain accurate records of cargo movements
* Work closely as part of a small team to deliver excellent customer service
Minimum requirements for Freight Forwarder:
* 3+ years experience in the freight forwarding industry
* the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* a good working knowledge of HMRC procedures relating to imports and exports
* strong negotiation skills to obtain competitive rates from suppliers
* GCSE grade 5 (or equivalent) or above in Maths & English
* proficient in the use of current office software packages
