As Team Manager for our Looked After Children team, you will be ensuring that the children are receiving responsive services, well-tailored to their needs, and in permanent and stable homes.

In the role, you will constantly seek out ways in which we can improve our services and the outcomes for children and young people, ensuring our resources are being used efficiently and that our staff are being developed to their full potential. Expecting nothing but the best from your team, and being ambitious for our children and their carers, you will work collaboratively with other services to ensure we can offer the best possible support. You will therefore analyse performance data to maintain the success of the team, and you will work directly with the children, foster carers and their families to ensure they remain involved in all decisions, and that their care plans are adjusted according to their needs.

To thrive in this important role, you will be a Social Work England registered Social Worker with significant experience in Children's Social Work Services and management experience. With a good understanding of managing risk in a safeguarding situation, you will be an accomplished leader with a good grasp of shaping multi-agency services to improve outcomes for children. You will also have a good understanding of relevant legislation and social work policies and practices. Comfortable managing a budget and resources, you will be a highly effective communicator with developed negotiation skills. PQ or Practice Teaching accreditation is desirable.

Within this supportive council, we're committed to ensuring every child grows up in a safe and stable environment, going on to fulfil their adult potential. If you share this ethos and are ready to make an active difference to the wellbeing of these children, then we want to hear from you.

We are currently implementing our Smarter Ways of Working as we recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go. Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery and, for the majority of our roles, to enable our people to be able to work remotely wherever possible. This role however will require you to work from the office part of the week.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Anna Stephens (Head of Service, Looked After Children, Fostering and Adoption) on or email.

Closing date for applications is 28 th June 2021. Candidates will be asked to undertake a psychometric test as part of the selection process. Successful applicants will then be invited to interview on Monday, 19 th July 2021.

In view of the current social distancing and infection measures currently in place, Solihull Council are keeping its recruitment processes and approach to interviewing under constant review.
