We are seeking to appoint a registered nurse to join our Health Centre on a maternity cover contract. The Health Centre is situated on the school site and supports pupils and staff with pastoral and medical needs. It is a hive of activity and the role of School Nurse is part of a large multidisciplinary team. The role reports to the Sister in Charge within a team consisting of five nurses, two mental health practitioners, one counsellor, three overnight matrons, a physiotherapist and a foot care practitioner.

The duties include providing medical care to staff, pupils and visitors, supporting with pastoral care and keeping detailed and accurate medical records. The successful candidate will need to be available to support with quarantine at the beginning of term and with staffing, in the event we need to isolate any pupils to one of the three specialist centres. This role may involve providing medical care to suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongst students, for which full training and PPE protection will be provided.

We require a compassionate and experience registered nurse who is able to provide a high standard of medical and pastoral care to our pupils. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of school nursing and some experience in supporting young people with their mental health would be desirable. You will have sufficient level of experience to work autonomously and must have excellent interpersonal, and organisational skills.

Working hours are 18 hours per week on a rota basis from Monday - Saturday plus an on-call element. The on-call part of the role will attract an allowance.
