Architectural Technician

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Glasgow to recruit for an Architectural Technician in the Public Sector on a temporary basis for 3 Months with potential extension.

Due to current circumstances this role will be based remotely.
Day rate: GBP120 - GBP134 (Inside IR35)

To assist the Contracts Manager to provide the company and Client Departments with a professional Architectural service ensuring best value is delivered to service users by taking specific responsibility to deliver allocated projects (generally of an Asset Sustainability/Service Development nature) in accordance with the RIBA Plan of Work, including surveys, preparation of drawings (CAD) and specifications and the supervision and management of contracts from inception to completion.

Main Duties:
Assisting with the implementation of the Department's Capital programmes and other works, taking personal responsibility as Contract Administrator for allocated contracts, monitoring and controlling project progress and liaising with clients, consultants & outside bodies as required.
Preparing feasibility / design schemes.
Carrying out site surveys including measured surveys, property condition surveys/investigations, asbestos surveys, ecology surveys etc. to inform the Architectural design process.
Preparing Architectural design for contracts including areas such as energy conservation and ventilation techniques, sustainability, waste management, ecology and the use of local materials
Preparing Architectural drawings for contracts using CAD.
On larger contracts assist in the preparation of Architectural drawings using CAD.
Preparing Architectural specifications for contracts using the National Building Specification (NBS) as necessary.
Preparing and submitting planning and building warrant applications.
Acting as Contract Administrator for contracts including preparation and programming of pre contract documentation, post contract supervision and general contract management.
Maintaining Architectural quality control standards and associated documentation.
Ensuring that accurate information is provided, to allow appropriate records to be maintained and reports to be prepared.
Assisting with continuous review of methods and procedures, updating and amending as required.Essential:
HNC / HND in Architectural Studies or equivalent
Experience of architectural delivery of projects of varying property types including
Relevant post-qualification knowledge of architectural delivery of projects including experience in:
Establishing client requirements and developing contract brief.
Preparing tender and contract documents, including drawings and specifications with the client.
Performing risk, value management and cost control.
Contract Administration of construction contracts
Proficient and experience in the production of CAD (AutoCAD) drawings and Architectural specifications.
Be fully conversant with construction related health and safety legislation including:
Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations.
Control of Asbestos Regulations
Post holder is required to travel effectively and efficiently throughout Argyll and Bute and beyond to meet the needs of the service.Candidates are required to have a Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate
