The group is currently home to a population of over 5,000 full-time students and around 500 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual who will play a crucial role in realising the department’s strategic objectives. You will be an inspiring Curriculum Lead with a background in Foundation Studies, Catering or Floristry and ensuring that the standards and the quality of teaching and learning are constantly improved and that all members of staff work towards delivering excellence.

You should be an experienced Curriculum Lead with a thorough understanding of BTec provision. Experience of teaching of one or more programme areas offered within the curriculum area would be beneficial but is not an essential requirement of the role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a flexible and innovative curriculum that is responsive to feedback from current learners and anticipates likely changes in demand from future learners.

  • Continually improve standards of course performance and teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum area.

  • Provide clear leadership to all the staff within the curriculum area so that the College can achieve its overall objective of being excellent in all areas.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

  • holds an appropriate teaching qualification such as DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent;

  • Has substantial relevant teaching experience and managing the delivery of BTec programmes.

  • Proven track record and experience of managing people to achieve excellent standards of teaching and learning.

  • Has a good knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting teaching and learning within the curriculum area and affecting the FE sector in general.

  • Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.

  • Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
