Business Development Manager / Mechanical Engineer
Birmingham, West Midlands (Home-based with extensive travel to Scotland, the Midlands, East Midlands, North East and West)

Plarad is a specialist manufacturer of tools which are mainly utilised for the installation and maintenance of wind turbines and all other areas of mechanical engineering involving bolted joints and flanges. We are an SME with a global presence specialising in high precision bolting technology and are at the forefront of tool innovation combined with unparalleled quality.
We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager / Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis, working 40 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity for a talented and technically minded sales professional with mechanical and/or hydraulic skills to advance their career and grow and succeed with our organisation.
You will play an important role in our continued success by maximising our product sales and bringing our quality products to the attention of new and existing clients. You will benefit from extensive training in both the UK and Germany (Covid travel rules permitting) as well as regular training throughout your career covering new products, so you can feel confident in your role and our customers receive the very best service.
The Role
As a Business Development Manager / Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for maximising product sales and creating lasting relationships with new and existing customers.
Following your extensive product training, you will be enabled to advise and support customers to select the best possible solutions from our portfolio. You will ensure that they receive the highest quality service which supports repeat business and we retain the maximum number of customers/accounts.
About You
To join us as a Business Development Manager / Mechanical Engineer, you will need:
- Good mechanical and/or hydraulic skills including torque and tension tooling (previous experience preferred)
- Excellent sales skills
- Good administrative skills combined with strong numeracy and an accurate approach
- The ability to learn and operate effectively within foreign cultures
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team or on your own
- A full, valid driving licence (preferably clean)
