Overview

The Legacy Giving Officer is a brand-new position within the Old Members’ Office and we are excited to add it alongside the Old Members’ relations and fundraising positions already in the team. The Legacy Giving Officer will be responsible to the Deputy Director of Development for the management and stewardship of the Taberdars’ Society, which recognises those Old Members and Friends of Queen’s who have left a gift to the College in their will. The Legacy Giving Officer will act as the first point of contact for its current members and those interested in becoming a member.

We are looking for a development professional with the vision and creativity to develop and manage a programme that generates increased awareness and membership in the Taberdars’ Society to help provide a better understanding of what our legacy/planned giving income pipeline and allocations will look like over the upcoming years.

Personal confidence and integrity are both key attributes and the successful candidate will work to promote them within the team in the Old Members’ Office, and wider College community. We also place a high value on camaraderie and celebrating each other’s successes; we recognise the integral part each team member has to play in helping all of us move forward as an office. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to proof-read own work are essential. They will also have a commitment to the values of higher education and enjoy working in an informal close-knit academic community.

Closing date: 08:00 GMT, Monday, 28th June 2021

We aim to hold interviews in the week commencing 5th July 2021, either in Oxford or remotely.

About The Queen’s College, Oxford

The Queen’s College is one of the oldest colleges in the University of Oxford and is prominently situated on Oxford’s High Street. The Queen's community is comprised of approximately 330 undergraduates, 160 graduates, 45 Fellows (both academic and senior professional staff) and nearly 6,500 contactable Old Members located around the world. In August 2019 the College welcomed a new Provost, Dr Claire Craig - the first female Provost in its history -, and we are excited to continue moving forward under her leadership.

Since 2005 the Old Members’ Office has been at the forefront of Queen's desires and efforts to build relationships with its Old Members based in the UK and around the world. Our office has historically been a small (but mighty!) one, and in 2020-21 our team has grown to include both dedicated regular giving and major gift expertise. We are excited to round off this expansion by welcoming a fundraiser working in legacy/planned giving into the team.

We are building on a solid track record of securing substantial and sustained levels of philanthropic support from both Old Members and friends of the College. Our ambition and potential to do even more is clear, however, and we want to hear from fundraisers who are keen to apply their motivation, creativity and initiative to help us continue growing, stewarding and involving the Taberdars’ Society members as we look to the future.
