Rydon Maintenance is currently seeking an experienced Repairs Supervisor to join its Islington based social housing repairs business to lead our directly employed team of maintenance operatives. Rydon is a successful construction, development, maintenance, investment and management group operating throughout England, predominantly in London and the southern counties. We are a dynamic, multi talented organisation, working across a wide range of construction market sectors within the built environment.

Rydon Maintenance is an expanding division of the Rydon Group and is successfully providing facilities management services to a variety of clients, predominantly within the healthcare and housing association sectors.

Job Purpose

We now have an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our responsive repairs team in Islington. This team delivers a first-class reactive/responsive repairs service on behalf of our social housing Client. The team is responsible for delivering reactive repairs for over 10,000 social homes across the region and includes the management of skilled trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting/decorating and many other trades.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our responsive repairs team, managing a small team (up to 10) maintenance operatives to ensure that our staff deliver a high quality repairs service that meets the needs of our client (this includes ensuring that the works undertaken meet/exceed our contractual key performance indicators for cost and quality). As the Supervisor you are responsible for ensuring the contract runs in compliance with all current legislation, is operationally efficient and that our teams are effectively managed and motivated. As part of this challenging role, you will undertake regular post work inspections to ensure that repairs undertaken by our teams meet our stringent quality standards. In addition, you will use data and information to identify trends and areas for improvement (be it quality, service or efficiency) as part of our continued commitment to deliver consistently high quality repairs and service.

There may be times when a specialist repair is not possible to be undertaken 'in-house' and where applicable, you will work with a range of subcontractors to ensure that repairs are carried out to the desired quality and cost standards, whilst maintaining high standards of health and safety.

If you enjoy working as part of a close and high performing team in an environment where no two days are the same, this could be the ideal career opportunity for you.

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent Supervisor experience gained within a maintenance company providing responsive repairs within the social housing market. Alternatively, you may work for a housing associate or local authority as part of a direct labour organisation (DLO).

The successful candidate should have: -

A good working knowledge of the general, reactive repair maintenance, ideally within social housing.

An excellent understanding of contractual repairs response times using key performance indicators and how to best manage these.

Excellent understanding of a range of building trades as well as suitable technical knowledge to support decision making.

Very good customer service experience with the ability to deal with difficult situations and to resolve conflicts when required.

Good IT skills - particularly the use of CRM (customer relationship management) systems such as Planet FM and/or Opti-Time. Equally, Microsoft Office package experience (such as Word, Excel) is essential.

If you are an experienced Supervisor, keen to join a business with an excellent reputation for delivering responsive repairs, we'd strongly encourage you to apply.
