Senior Accountant - Barnsley (Temp Vacancy)

Salary: GBP27.19ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

Maintaining effective financial management arrangements to inform the Company's & Council's financial position and meet statutory requirements.
Ensuring robust financial planning to meet Council, Company and Statutory requirements.
Promoting quality decision making through financial advice and raising financial awareness
Maximising the benefits achieved from the SAP system financials
Supporting the Company in aiming for excellence
Accountabilities:

Leadership, Supervision, direction and training of the relevant service accountancy team including managing conflicting priorities and deadlines to achieve agreed programmes
Responsibility for maintaining an effective working relationship across the accountancy function
Preparation of detailed revenue and capital budgets for designated service(s) in liaison with budget holders at all levels & in accordance with approved guidelines and standards.
Preparation of long term financial forecasts and contribution to the development of future funding options for affordable housing, the HRA & the Company
Provision of information in respect of all aspects of the Business Planning process.
To manage the relationship with External Auditors, agreeing the audit arrangements & liaising with External Audit throughout the annual audit
To prepare the statutory accounts and comply with companies act requirements
To manage the relationship with external tax advisors and prepare the Tax returns
To continuously improve the Company's financial systems to make sure they are efficient and risk is minimised.
Ensure compliance with professional accounting and general financial management regulations, standards and guidance as determined by the Head of Finance.
The production and presentation of service budget monitoring (revenue & capital), trading reports, contract and other financial monitoring information in accordance with approved standards and guidance.
Support to budget holders in managing budgets including provision of appropriate information and advice on budgetary control and other financial issues e.g. advice on corrective action.
Assisting the Head of Finance in the development and implementation of budgetary control (including devolved budgetary control arrangements) and other financial systems as required.
To contribute to the development of Service level Agreements and other procurement options including the provision of advice and guidance on the financial/accounting implications of the options
To provide benchmarking services ensuring that the outcomes positively reflect the performance of the company
